Tips to Make Social Media Marketing Easier For Business Owners

Tips to Make Social Media Marketing Easier For Business Owners

Social media marketing is a must for most businesses’ marketing strategy to reach their desired audience.

Social media marketing can:

  • Help increase brand awareness
  • Help drive traffic to your website
  • Demonstrate the capabilities that sets YOU apart from your competitors
  • Showcase your brand values and mission
  • Act as a hub for your company profile and services

We know that things can be daunting with the numerous platforms available (Hint: you don’t have to be on all platforms! Be where your target market is), so we answer a commonly-asked question: How can business owners make social media marketing easier and more effective?

Social Media Tips

1. Have a bank of social media templates and photos

It is worth hiring a professional photographer for a day and having a company photoshoot session. Get lots of photos of you and your team (together and individually) in different settings – they all go a long way! Take photos of other items that relate to your brand identity as well. You can see how we have done this on various I Do Marketing’s Instagram photos!

Social media templates also help make content creation significantly easier and faster. Just add in the relevant text and images, and with some minor adjustments – it’s done!

2. Have a brand kit ready

Another key for efficient content creation. Your brand colours, fonts, and logo(s) should be ready to go when you create marketing content. This ensures that all your content is visually cohesive and identifiable.

3. Have a content strategy

It’s important to know your target audience really well for this. Your content strategy should be based on what your ideal audience would find helpful and/or appealing. To understand your ideal audience, you should form customer personas based on the type of customers/clients you aim to attract and serve.

We suggest your content strategy to have “pillars” you could rely on. For example, an interior design company would have pillars like “client work”, “interior design tips”, and “work process”.

This means that you won’t just be constantly posting promotional content, but content that shows you are an expert in your field, and builds trust with your audience! This is also a chance to show off your brand personality 🥳

4. Repurpose old content

Content does not have to only be posted once, your new audience deserves to see them too! Here are some of our favourite ways to repurpose content:

  1. Repurpose a blog into an Instagram post
  2. Repurpose an Instagram carousel into a reel
  3. Do you have an old Instagram post that worked well? Repost that content for a little throwback. To make it interesting, you can write a caption that reflects on how things have changed for your business since then
  4. Repurpose a reply to an Instagram comment/DM (from an enquiry about your business) into its own Instagram post!

5. Schedule your content ahead of time

Consider creating your content a while in advance and use a scheduling tool like Later or Hootsuite to automatically upload your content onto social media platforms! This works very well along with our other previously mentioned tips.

You can create a simple social media plan/calendar on excel that lets you visualise how your feed would look like, and lets you see your content, captions, and hashtags in one place.

Important thing to note:

Social media marketing is a great way to drive traffic to your website and can act as a lead generation tool if done right. However, social media marketing is best incorporated into an overall marketing strategy.
