The East Kent
Standing proud in the heart of Whitstable since 1802, The East Kent pub has made its mark in the history of this busy seaside town. The EK, as it’s referred to by locals, lovingly invites families and friends to enjoy delicious food accompanied by your favourite drink with a relaxed, lively and warming atmosphere.

Services: Your Marketing Manager, Logo and Branding, Content drafting, Graphic Design & Website Design, Development and Management.
Problem: Having worked with the owners of The EK, Natalie and Andrew, on their other business venture, The White Horse in Boughton Under-Blean, for the successful launch of their new branding and website, it seemed only fair that The East Kent received some love and had a little refresh!
The East Kent set out to modernise their well-recognised logo subtly and inject some fun into their overall branding and website to reflect its values and customers.
Previously, the graphic design work has been managed internally, but with ambitions for growth and improving the overall look and feel of the brand, we were delighted to work alongside the marketing team to help deliver this fantastic work.
Solution:
Using our varied and specialist in-house skillset, we worked across the branding, website design, development, content drafting and supporting design work. Let’s go into these in a little more detail.
Step 1:
Logo

To help update and modernise the logo, whilst still making the brand recognisable, we went through a series of design processes and steps, including supporting colours and brand guidelines to ensure a consistent and strong end result. We did for The EK and also their delicious Wood-Fire Kitchen.
Step 2:
Website

They needed a website to match the new modernised logo. Working alongside their marketing team, we designed, developed and delivered a fully-responsive and beautiful website.
This process started with putting together a sitemap to ensure the user journey was flawless and intuitive and that all pages were necessary and had a key purpose.
Next, we designed some of the main web pages to develop the look and feel of the website as a whole. Once these designs were approved, we moved on to developing the rest of the pages and their functionality. This included a responsive design, call-to-actions, online forms and pop-ups.
All our website projects are delivered by our website Whizz Denham, and project managed by Suzanne, our Marketing Manager, to ensure a smooth, efficient and desired end result.
Step 3:
Content

Whilst the website development was underway, our team drafted the content for each page of the website with the intended audience in mind. We also supported the photoshoot brief to receive imagery which would perfectly complement the beautiful new website.
Step 4:
Launch!

We worked with the client’s existing IT team to ensure a seamless transition to the new website from the old one and carried out post-live checks.
The website is built in an easy-to-use CMS system which allows the client to make changes to the text, imagery and other updates as required.
Step 5:
Further branding and PR

To help support the new logo and website design and development, we ensured consistency through the email marketing design and also advertising in local newspapers.
Step 6:
Continued support

We are working with both The White Horse and The East Kent to help support and deliver on ad hoc design work, supporting the overall marketing strategy.
